Reiki

Gaël has been practicing Reiki for many years having been introduced to her teaching master by her colleague Gill Hiley, with whom she operates the French residential weeks.  Gill Hiley herself is a Reiki Master and has been practicing Reiki for twelve years.  The Reiki principles by which they live are:

The word Reiki is Japanese. Reiki is not connected to any religious belief system.   It is quite simply a hands on treatment, a beneficial and gentle way of healing.  Healing is a word widely used and conjures up a ‘promise’.  Doctors heal, Reiki practitioner’s aid by helping the body, enhancing and encouraging the healing process.  As it is an oral tradition it is hard to explain without it sounding completely whacky and off the wall!  It is neither.

Treatments are given with the receiver fully clothed.  As a treatment it works on several levels; spiritual, mental, emotional and physical.  It is both natural and holistic.  The fact that it is so simple seems to be the reason why people find it difficult to understand and accept.  To those we would say...

‘Try a treatment and then comment’

What the recipient experiences is a sense of peace and the practitioners hands emanating heat.  It doesn’t have to be carried out in silence, although it is more beneficial – you can have Hip hop blaring out or Elton John, classical if you wish, it makes no difference.  Some melodic background music or gentle discussion is better.

It aids pent up emotion, stress, discomfort and a multitude of ailments. One treatment is lovely, two or more is beneficial, regular treatments can be life changing.  Perhaps the simplest way to approach that is comparing it with going shopping.  Once a year is okay but you miss out on a lot of good fresh food, once a month is good management, and once a week means everything is being well catered for.  So, perhaps consider starting with an intensive week of daily treatments, move on to one session a week, and then move on to a maintenance programme.

If there is a whacky bit it is this….. you don’t even have to believe in it for it to work.
