Reflexology is, like Reiki, a touch therapy. Neither represents a medical approach but instead a holistic one that is complimentary to conventional medicine.
Treatments help muscles to relax. It can aid with stress, tiredness, insomnia, digestive disorders and a whole host of other symptoms. The pressure used can be geared to suit each individual’s preference. For example, some people like a strong deep touch while others feel more benefit from something gentler. The end result is the same and the choice that of the client.
The practitioner applies pressure to areas of the foot which represent reflex points that correspond to other parts of the body.
Reflexology is not a ‘new and modern’ treatment. It is believed that it might date back as far as 2300 BC as engravings on Egyptian tombs show what appears to be one person holding another’s foot.
